DL4 MkII

DL4 MkII | Overview
Paul Hindmarsh briefly revisits the history of the iconic DL4 Delay Modeler and then introduces the new DL4 MkII, describing its many modern features and demonstrating several of the 15 MkII delays.

DL4 MkII | Part One – Quickstart
This DL4 MkII tutorial shows how to connect an instrument or dynamic microphone to DL4 MkII, an expression pedal or external footswitches, MIDI, MicroSD, and the provided DC1g power supply. Basic operations such as choosing the delay type, adjusting parameters, looper operation, and saving a preset are also covered.

DL4 MkII | Part Two - Secret Functions
This DL4 MkII tutorial shows some of the secret functions, including tap tempo subdivision, accessing/modifying the secret reverbs, morphing knob positions with an expression pedal, and customizing the global settings.

DL4 MkII | Glitch
Paul Hindmarsh demonstrates the Glitch delay in the Line 6 DL4 MkII delay pedal. Paul is playing his custom Yamaha Pacifica guitar and the DL4 MkII is routed into a pair of Princess amplifier models in a Helix Floor amp and effects processor. Glitch is a sophisticated effect involving random sequencing of reversed and pitch-shifted delays.

DL4 MkII | Euclidean and Crisscross
Paul Hindmarsh demonstrates the Euclidean and Crisscross delays in the Line 6 DL4 MkII delay pedal. Paul is playing his custom Yamaha Pacifica guitar and the DL4 MkII is routed into a pair of Princess amplifier models in a Helix Floor amp and effects processor. The Euclidean delay provides a complex "Euclidean" algorithmic take on a classic '60s magnetic-drum delay effect, while the Crisscross delay features two delays panned hard left/right, but set to slightly cross-feed into one other.

DL4 MkII | Harmony and Heliosphere
Paul Hindmarsh demonstrates the Harmony and Heliosphere delays in the Line 6 DL4 MkII delay pedal. Paul is playing his custom Yamaha Pacifica guitar and the DL4 MkII is routed into a pair of Princess amplifier models in a Helix Floor amp and effects processor. For the Harmony delay, the notes are repeated an octave lower, then an octave higher, then back to unison. Heliosphere is a lush stereo delay with subtle modulation and a splash of reverb on the delays only.

HX Effects Connections
Join Paul Hindmarsh as he discusses some of possible connection scenarios with Line 6 HX Effects. It could be as simple as running effects to the front end of an amp like any traditional stomp box, or it could be something far more more versatile and complex. Note - Full HX Edit control will be coming this spring. HX Edit is currently a librarian and impulse response loader.

Looping with HX Effects
Paul Hindmarsh spotlights some of the groovy things you can do with the HX Effects stereo looper. Adding multiple textures using different effects on each pass, panning overdubs left and right, dropping the loop to half speed, and reversing the entire loop to create psychedelic soundscapes—it's all great fun (and the looper is a cool practice tool, too). Warning: it can all get a bit crazy!

HX Effects Controlling External Gear
As well as being fully loaded with effects of its own, HX Effects can also become the centrepiece of a guitar rig, switching in external effects using its two effects loops, sending out midi commands or even switching the channel change and reverb on an amplifier. Paul Hindmarsh takes you through some of the options.
