Advise needed! high E string jumping out of nut

Hi ![]()
I have a problem with my 69! Occasionally the high E string will pop completely out of the nut and rest outside the frets without warning
. On the whole Im very pleased with the guitar I like the neck profile (despite my small hands) the overall feel and the steel frets. Admittedly the top high E string is very close to the edge of the fretboard but I' ve got used to it! However I cant understand why the high E is jumping out of the nut slot' In all the years I ve been playing I have never come across this and I ve owned dozens
.
I'm wondering if I replaced the nut would it solve the problem and could I reduce the string spacing a tad without ruining the intonation??
Any feedback/comments greatly appreciated![]()
I have the same issue. I notice that it happens when I pick over the saddle pickup. And it mostly comes when I want a sharp percussive attach. The kind of pick stroke I do will often cause the e string to jump out. If i move up towards the nut by a few inches, I can't make it jump out. If I get very close to the saddle, I can't make it jump out then either. Just in this one spot. I would love to have some input as to what is going on here.
