Replacing Motherboard on a 700 electric

I bought a used line 6 variax 700 electric guitar from guitar center. It lasted exactly 31 days (1 day after the 30-day warranty). The manager of the guitar center sold me a new motherboard for the guitar. I have the back off and it looks like there is a white band connector that I have to take off, so I can replace the motherboard. Do I need a tool to get this plastic band off? or how do I get it off? In short, is there any guidance you can give me on how to swap the old board with the new?
>Thanks in advance for ANY info anyone might provide.
