Gearbox is crashing my iMac

I used my Toneport UX2 with Gearbox and Ableton Live without issue, but now that I have an iMac, I wanted to use Garageband and despite having the drivers installed, can't get the Toneport to work with Garageband. So I installed Gearbox and it keeps crashing my system.
What should I do?
Hi,
Are you installing drivers off of the CD? Newer operating systems like Snow Leopard and Win 7 are incompatible with the drivers that come on the disk.
You can download the newest updates for free from our website. This should fix the issue.
Thanks,

Hi,
I've not been using the CD, but rather have downloaded everything directly from this site.
I can get the TonePort to work with Garageband now, but would prefer to have GearBox, as it is waaaaay more fun to play with.
Hi,
I need some more info before I can properly diagnose the problem.
What version of OSX are you using?
Are you connecting the device to a USB hub?
Have you tried different USB ports and cables?
When you say gearbox crashes does your whole system crash or just the program?
Does Gearbox throw an error code?
Thanks,
David
