Bien évidemment. Grâce à “MIDI Memo Recorder” (logiciel gratuit dans l’Apple App Store), votre iPhone/iPod touch peut enregistrer des données MIDI et les lire à tout moment. After the presentation, we received requests to provide MIDI functionality that could be used by all MIDI gear. The result is MIDI Memo Recorder, which can be used to record and playback any MIDI messages from any MIDI product. Although the specific Variax and Vetta II editing features proposed in the demo are not part of this application, all of the control capabilities are still possible via a Mac or PC with Line 6 Edit and Variax Workbench software.

Planet Waves provided the high-quality MIDI cables that are included with MIDI Mobilizer. Planet Waves was also a key partner in the initial development of the MIDI Mobilizer software, and participated with Line 6 at Apple's developer conference presentation in June of 2009.

How does MIDI Mobilizer connect to my iPhone/iPod touch?

MIDI Mobilizer plugs into the 30-pin connector on the bottom of your iPhone/iPod touch. Two Planet Waves cables (each with a 2.5mm 3-conductor jack on one end, and a standard MIDI 5-pin DIN jack on the other) connect MIDI Mobilizer to the MIDI device of your choice.

Most Line 6 products with MIDI In and Out can back up and restore settings via Sysex commands. Please download your product's user manual for specific explanations of this process.

What MIDI data can the MIDI Memo Recorder application record?

MIDI Memo Recorder will capture and record all MIDI data that can be stored within a Standard MIDI File, which includes all performance information (notes, controllers, pedals, pitch bend, after touch, etc) as well as any System Exclusive data (usually the parameter values of a keyboard or effect unit's sounds and settings). It does not record System Real Time messages, which include Active Sensing and MIDI clock and control, since these are also not recorded (or needed) in Standard MIDI Files.

All data received is time-stamped to one millisecond accuracy in order to preserve very accurate timing of all MIDI events.

How many Memos can I have in MIDI Memo Recorder?

Virtually unlimited. Since the iPhone and iPod touch have very large amounts of memory, and MIDI data is very small, running out of room is nearly impossible.

MIDI Memo Recorder makes it easy to rename, reorder and delete Memos in order to keep your information organized. You can also offload your Memo recordings to a computer via email or via WiFi access.

Can I copy a MIDI file from my computer into MIDI Memo Recorder?

This can be accomplished by simply playing any MIDI file out your computer's MIDI interface and right into MIDI Mobilizer, and record the data directly into MIDI Memo Recorder. It will capture and time-stamp all of the data, and be able to play it back exactly as it was received.

Can I use MIDI Memo Recorder without MIDI Mobilizer?

MIDI Memo Recorder can run without MIDI Mobilizer; however it won't be possible to send and receive MIDI data (since this requires a hardware interface). MIDI Memo Recorder will temporarily display a message that the MIDI Mobilizer is not connected, but this can be dismissed in order to use MIDI Memo Recorder's other functions (i.e., emailing already recorded Standard MIDI Files, renaming, moving, or deleting Memos, etc).

What is MIDI?

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is what musical instruments and electronics use to communicate with each other. Drum machines, synthesizers, digital pianos, samplers, and computers can all communicate via MIDI.

How does MIDI work?

A MIDI-enabled device (like a MIDI keyboard) sends MIDI data to computers and musical instruments. This data is simply a set of instructions, not musical sounds, and it can be used to control computers and musical instruments in a variety of ways.

For example, when connected to a computer sequencer a MIDI keyboard can trigger virtually any sound and turn itself into virtually any instrument.

How is MIDI used?

MIDI is used mainly by musicians to create music but it has a wide variety of applications. Ringtones to movie scores, theme-park rides to Las Vegas fountains, MIDI affords incredible freedom and flexibility.

When MIDI data (unlike an audio signal produced by a non-MIDI instrument) is recorded into a computer, musicians have total freedom over its pitch, tempo, intensity, and other musical parameters. (Karaoke songs are commonly recorded with MIDI, which is why you can adjust the pitch without affecting the tempo.)

Guitarists use MIDI to quickly change the settings of their amplifiers (like a Line 6 Vetta II) and effects (like M13 Stompbox Modeler).
